【摘要】:Resultsofthistestmethodareusedtopredicttime-dependentdeformationcharacteristicsofarockmassresultingfromloading.Itisatestthatmayberequireddependingonrocktypeoranticipatedloads,orboth.Thistestmethodmaybeusefulinstructuraldesignanalysiswhereloadingisappliedoveranextensiveperiod.Thistestmethodisnormallyperformedatambienttemperature,butequipmentcanbemodifiedorsubstitutedforoperationsatothertemperatures.Resultsofthistestmethodmaybeusefulinverifyinglaboratorycreepdataandstructuralmathematicalmodelinganalyses.Creepcharacteristicsaredeterminedunderanonuniformstateofstress.Ifduringafieldinvestigation,time-dependentcharacteristicsaredetected,thenaninsitucreeptestshallbeperformed.Note18212;Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/etc.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthepreparation,equipment,testprocedure,anddatadocumentationfordetermininginsitucreepcharacteristicsofarockmassusingarigidplatesubjectedtocontrolledloading.1.2Thistestmethodisdesignedtobeconductedinanundergroundopening;however,withsuitablemodifications,thistestcouldbeconductedatthesurface.1.3Thetestisusuallyconductedparallelorperpendiculartotheanticipatedaxisofthrust,asdictatedbythedesignloadorotherorientations,basedupontheapplication.1.4Flexibleplateapparatuscanbeusediftheanticipatedcreepdisplacementiswithinthetoleranceofthetraveloftheflatjacks.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionstatements,seeSection8.
